Springside Chestnut Hill Academy – McCausland Lower School

Project Description

The McCausland Lower School is Springside Chestnut Hill Academy’s first major building project since the merger of the all-girls Springside School and all-boys Chestnut Hill Academy. Inadequate lower school facilities helped position this building as the priority in the phased revisioning of the merged schools. The new building serves kindergarten through 4th-grade students, and features a servery and dining hall, gym/multi-purpose room, library/learning center, science, music and art classrooms, and other specialty teaching areas. The structural steel building is clad in a mix of stone veneer, fiber cement rainscreen panels, and glazing. Disconnection and demolition of the existing Lower School made way for a new expanded school entrance and bus drop-off area, and reconfigured parking. Improvements to the middle school included expansion of the existing dining facility and an updated entry lobby.
