William Penn Charter School – Graham Athletics & Wellness Center

Project Description

William Penn Charter School, the oldest Quaker school in the country, strives to create a learning environment where arts and athletics flourish with scholastic achievement. The Graham Athletics and Wellness Center is part of a multi-phase campus master plan and strategically incorporated to help realize the goals of creating a pedestrian-friendly campus core free of vehicular traffic. The center accommodates over 900 students and serves the needs of the broader student population, including K-12 physical education. The new facility includes two full-sized basketball courts, a wrestling room, locker rooms, training rooms, a classroom, a rock climbing wall, and a new practice soccer field. A balcony and bridge overlooking the courts allow access from the existing football stadium to the new athletic center, creating seamless connections for students and staff. At the entrance, the main lobby visually connects interior spaces with vast campus views through full-height windows while skylights above wash the spaces with light throughout the day. A facility that amplifies athletics and wellness, the Graham Center also serves as a community gathering space.
