Temple University Health System – Jeanes Campus ED Expansion

Project Description

The Jeanes Hospital Emergency Department expansion includes a new one-story addition to accommodate supplementary exam rooms and nurse stations. In addition to general and specialty exam rooms, the work incorporates new patient bathrooms, storage rooms, and updated mechanical systems. The addition was surgically connected to the existing hospital, physically breaking through and expanding the Emergency Department’s reach, and requiring precision and expediency to maintain the function of existing spaces. Rooms were outfitted with new headwall systems for medical gas, nurse call, power, and data, and new mechanical systems — dedicated air-handling units, exhaust fans, and ductwork — run throughout the new spaces. A new mechanical shaft extends across four floors of the existing hospital, making room for the new changes.
